Peripheral Cortex - Biography

This band's profile is 'invisible', meaning that it's much less prominent on the site - either because it's incomplete, or maybe doesn't entirely fit MS format.

Biography

Peripheral Cortex was formed in fall 2013, when Rob, a passionate bass player, met with Chris, an experienced long-time drummer. Both recently settled in Berlin and were looking to form a band. Despite moving to a city where the musical landscape is dominated by hipsters and techno, Chris and Rob both knew this was not what they wanted to do. Both had long admired bands such as Death, Morbid Angel and Necrophagist, delivering highly technical forms of extreme metal with an innovative character.
Rob and Chris C started rehearsing material Rob composed while searching for additional band members.

Soon enough Chris B and LJ filled the guitar spots; both enthusiastic and gifted players. With the backbone of the band now complete, the band started to rehearse intensively.
In the summer of 2015, Peripheral Cortex entered the Spirale studios to record two tracks which were not released at that time, due to the lack of vocals. Meanwhile, the hunt went on to find a frontman which proved not to be an easy task. Several vocalists were appointed and subsequently left the band, until finally Jo was found who proved to be a stayer.

In October 2015 Jo entered Harris Johns' Music Lab Berlin (Sodom, Kreator...) to track down the vocals.
It was around the same time, that Chris B's interests started to shift and he could no longer commit to the band. For this reason it was decided it was best to part ways and to continue as a quartet.
The two song demo was mixed and mastered by Mendel Bij de Leij (Aborted, Oracles, Mendel) and is now released under the name 'Rupture'.
